Troubleshooting guide

Is your browser compatible?

To experience the full functionality of Gatherly, it is highly recommended to use Google Chrome (preferred browser) and Firefox. Clicking the join link while on Safari would direct you to opening a new browser window in Safari. Copy the link and open the link through Google Chrome / incognito browser.

Can't connect your microphone, speakers, or webcam?

  1. Try disabling extensions that may be interfering with Gatherly. An easy way to do this is to open Gatherly in Google Chrome's Incognito mode.
  2. Check that you don't have another video chat platform (Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc.) open on your computer. If you do, close them and refresh the Gatherly page.
  3. Try using headphones, if you have any available.
  4. Still facing issues? Make sure that your microphone, speakers, and webcam are functional on an alternative browser-based video chat app, like Google Hangouts.
  5. If your device is connected to an external microphone, speaker, and/or camera, click on “more” on the top toolbar of the page and select “Audio & Video”, double check if the selected device for your microphone, speaker and video are correctly placed.

Facing poor connectivity?

  1. Try turning off your webcam. While not ideal, this can help to conserve bandwidth.
  2. If possible, try moving closer to your router, switching to a wired connection, or even using a hotspot. Here's a video with WiFi tips we generally recommend.

On a corporate network?

  1. Contact your corporate IT department for assistance.
  2. Turn off your corporate VPN if it's not required for the meeting.

Having issues screen sharing?
